If you’re in need of your next fix of Amalfi Coast wedding inspiration, you’re definitely in the right place as today we’re sharing Jess & Dan’s beautiful big day with you, and it’s bound to leave you with all the heart eyes. This gorgeous couple chose to say, ‘I Do’ in the Ravello Town Hall Garden before heading to Belmond Hotel Caruso for their reception. Their celebration was relaxed and intimate, lathered with lots of luxurious details. The result really was magical, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. Without further ado, let’s hand you over to the bride, Jessie, so you can find out a little more…
“Our wedding was an intimate celebration of the integration of two families; held on our 12-year anniversary in one of our families’ most treasured locations in the world – Ravello. The wedding day formalised our union, but also represented the union of our best friends and family; brought together under the Ravello sunset and in the gardens of Belmond Hotel Caruso. We wanted the love and spirit of our relationship, and celebration of union & family, to be the centrepiece – so we simplified the other elements.”
The couple hosted their wedding in the middle of the week (in between relaxing and exploring the rest of the Amalfi Coast). They hosted their ceremony in the Town Hall Gardens before walking up to Belmond Hotel Caruso with 50 of their closest friends and family to enjoy a family feast at a communal table under the groves, followed by dancing by the pool and under the stars.
Jess & Dan wanted to keep their décor stylish and simple, focusing more on their love story and opting for lemons, eucalyptus and white floral accents to flawlessly tie in with their surroundings. As they are both Australian, the newlyweds had limited connections on the Amalfi Coast and hired The Amalfi Experience to ensure a seamless planning journey from across the globe. Jess explains, “The Amalfi Experience innately understood our desire for a timeless but relaxed affair and were able to combine local elements with some Australian flair.”
Here at TAE, we are able to recommend a whole host of incredibly talented suppliers to ensure you have the wedding of your dreams. Piero Mansi was on hand to do the hair for the bride, bridesmaids and immediate female family members. The bridal party wore loose curls for a natural but polished vibe, and didn’t they look beautiful?! Zoe Graham (a fellow Australian by origin but Italian by heart) was there to work her make-up magic on the bridal party for a natural, sun-kissed glow.
The aisle style was ‘classically feminine’, with Jess wearing a local Australian Designer and a fitted, backless dress that was a delectable latte colour with an embroidered lace overlay. The lace detailing was a subtle nod to the gardens in which the ceremony took place. The bride donned a pair of Sophie Webster wedding shoes and carried a minimalist bouquet consisting of eucalyptus, natives and roses, paired with a long-train veil. Jess’ bridesmaids looked super pretty in white eyelet lace dresses by Zimmerman with pink floral accents and wildly romantic bouquets.
Jess explains, “Ravello is a place that has captured the hearts and imaginations of many of our family. It is a favourite among grandparents, a beloved holiday locale for parents; an Italian epitome of art and beauty – temporary home and recluse to some of the bride and groom’s favourite writers at times in history; and therefore, the perfect place to bring the family together. We chose the gardens for the casual yet local aesthetic; and Caruso for the transcendental experience of hanging over the cliffs of Ravello and looking out at eye-level with the moon as we celebrated the first moments of marriage.”
Guests enjoyed prosecco and live music in the gardens ahead of the ceremony, while a band followed them through the streets of Ravello back to Caruso for their reception. The couple spoilt their friends and family with an absolute feast, opting for canapés and cocktails under the groves before treating everyone to an Italian banquet for dinner. Later on in the evening, the happy couple cut their vanilla sponge wedding cake and shared an open bar of cocktail and spirits before dancing the night away. Guests were offered personalised and handmade bottles of limoncello as wedding favours, meaning they could take home a small taste of the Amalfi Coast.
We asked Jess what her favourite part of the wedding day was. Here, she tells us, “There are too many magic pockets of time to choose from! It’s hard to move past the first moment you see your husband / wife right before you say your vows. The anticipation, the love, and the sense of absolute serenity was breath-taking.”
The couple wanted to make the most of their time away and organised a welcome dinner at Pizzeria Donna Stella in the town of Amalfi ahead of their wedding day – a wonderful opportunity to bring everyone together at the beginning of the week. Their loved ones dining under lemon trees, sharing antipasti, pizza and wine – the perfect way to kick-start the celebrations. The couple also rented a boat from Lucibello boats and gifted their guests with white linen shirts and sailed to Capri for the day. After their wedding day, friends and family recovered at La Tagliata in Positano – a jaw-dropping location where guests reminisced about the memories that had been made. It ended the week with a celebration of food, wine, love and family!
Jess & Dan’s newlywed advice…
– Know the why of your wedding day before you start planning.
– Choose 3 – 5 elements that matter the most to you, let the rest go and enjoy the flow.
– Opt for a wedding planner such as The Amalfi Experience – they made it so seamless and took all other concerns out of execution so that we could focus on each other. We will forever be grateful for that.
