We loved every second of planning Brittney & Michael’s timeless and modern wedding on the Amalfi Coast and we’re over the moon to be able to share it with you today – we’re sure you’ll get lost in the romance! Featuring a monochrome black and white colour palette with statement florals and a vintage-esque bridal look, their big day offers all the Italian inspiration you could ever need.
After meeting at a mutual friend’s party and heading off to a trip to Nicaragua less than a week later, Brittney & Michael quickly fell head over heels in love with each other and admit it feels like they’ve been on their honeymoon ever since. This gorgeous couple dated for two and a half years before Michael dropped to his knees and popped the question.
Brittney explains, “Our engagement sums up our relationship to a T… Michael planned to surprise me on a beautiful Sunday morning in June 2018 on a private beach in Southampton. As we walked from the car to the beach, I had accidentally dialed my mom. My mom called back at the precise time Michael got down on one knee and I was distracted by the phone, so I didn’t see him on one knee and picked up the call from my mom.
While Brittney & Michael had a secret legal ceremony in New York City on May 18th, their wedding date in Italy was July 4th, with The Amalfi Experience at the helm, working behind the scenes to plan an unforgettable celebration. It was Michael’s idea to get wed in Italy. “We really wanted to get married in something that felt like a home,” explains Brittney. “We rented Villa Oliviero, a 6-bedroom family-run villa for a week and stayed there with our immediate family. We had a trip planned to Italy two weeks after we got engaged and fell in love with the Amalfi coast. We joked about making everyone travel all that way for our wedding, I guess we had the last laugh!” Villa Oliviero became a sought-after retreat of painters and poets who visited Positano from all corners of the world, and the couple were instantly smitten.
Inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s trips to the beloved coast during the 50s & 60s, their wedding style was effortlessly chic. Brittney tells us, “I watched films like Roman Holiday and La Dolce Vita. I wanted the wedding to feel like Jacqueline Kennedy could show up at any time during her frequent trips to the coast in the 1960s. My spirit animal is Audrey Hepburn (we share the same birthday) so naturally I wanted the look and feel to be vintage but with a chic modern lens.”
Audrey Hepburn’s infamous Givenchy gown was the inspiration for Brittney’s bridal gown, with a glamorous-meets-modern vibe for her wedding day look. Michael wore a custom tuxedo from Suit Supply teamed with white sneakers from GREATS and a bow tie. Brittney gifted him a pair of Gucci cufflinks with bumblebees on the morning of their wedding – he was marrying Queen B, after all! The groomsmen donned black tuxedos with long black skinny ties to complement Michael’s suit while the ‘maids looked stunning in black gowns that they had chosen themselves.
After the reception, the newlyweds and their guests headed down to the pool at the villa, celebrating with a beach party planned for the last day. For their honeymoon, Brittney & Michael headed over to Anacapri and stayed at the spectacular Hotel Caesar Augustus to completely disconnect, eat plenty of pasta and soak up the sunsets.
